Objective: Working for the Housing and Public Buildings Construction Unit (UCLBP) / Rwanda Housing Authority, UPCE Consult Ltd developed pro-poor land subdivision plans for a prioritized urban residential area covering approximately 110 hectares in Mirama I and Mirama II Villages, Nyagatare Cell, Nyagatare Sector. Scope & Methodology: Over a 9-month assignment involving urban planners, civil engineers, quantity surveyors, an environmentalist and a GIS expert, our team delivered engineering designs covering transportation planning, socio-economic impact assessment, data collection and analysis with GIS data management, architectural design and 3D modelling and graphic design, environmental impact assessment, and direct support for site planning and decision-making. Key Deliverables: Engineering and transportation designs, socio-economic impact assessment, GIS-based data management outputs, 3D architectural models, and an environmental impact assessment report. Impact: The assignment produced fully engineered, pro-poor subdivision plans for the Nyagatare site, valued at over 11.5 million Rwf, giving the Government of Rwanda a technically robust and socially equitable basis for urban residential development in the district.
