Objective: Musanze District commissioned UPCE Consult Ltd to carry out a detailed engineering study for upgrading the Musanze Town informal settlement. Scope & Methodology: Over a 12-month assignment involving a 10-person multidisciplinary team of valuers, civil engineers and urban planners, we executed a detailed assessment of existing infrastructure, including markets, road networks, water supply, sanitation systems, and footpaths. Based on these findings, we developed comprehensive engineering plans tailored to the settlement's specific needs, proposing upgrades such as improved drainage systems, solid waste management solutions, upgraded road surfaces, and enhanced public amenities. Key Deliverables: A detailed infrastructure assessment report and a full set of engineering upgrade plans covering drainage, waste management, roads and public amenities. Impact: The study directly targeted improved living conditions and sustainable development within Musanze's informal neighborhoods, giving the district a clear, engineered pathway to a healthier and better-served urban settlement.
